Trevor, Patricia, and Elliot all pleaded guilty.
Trevor received 15 years in prison (with possibility of parole after 10). Patricia got 3 years for her role in the harassment campaign. Elliot got 5 years for stalking, blackmail, and voyeurism.
I watched Trevor’s plea hearing via video. When given the chance to speak, he said flatly, “I’m sorry. I never meant to hurt Melissa. I just wanted her to move on and be happy with me.” It wasn’t a real apology, but I didn’t need one anymore.
After the hearing, the prosecutor looked at me and said, “It’s over. They can’t hurt you anymore.”
I moved back into my apartment with a full security system — cameras, motion sensors, new locks. For the first time in a long time, I picked up the photo of my dad on his motorcycle and placed it proudly on the shelf.
The grief is still there, but now I can honor my father’s memory without fear. I started therapy, reconnected with the few real people who remained, and slowly began rebuilding my life.
Trevor took my sense of safety, my trust, and years of my life. But he didn’t break me.
