My Brother Stalked & Assaulted My Girlfriend at a Wedding – My Parents Defended Him Until He Landed in Prison for Domestic Violence

Update 3 (4 years later)

We got married two years ago in a small ceremony. We bought a house, Victoria is now head pediatric nurse, and we’re expecting our first daughter in 3 months. Life has been peaceful.

Yesterday my mom called hysterically. Samuel got married last year. His wife Rachel was beaten so badly she had broken ribs and a fractured wrist. My dad had been helping cover it up for months — using connections to pressure her family and threaten her job.

Both Samuel and my dad were arrested. Samuel for domestic violence, my dad for witness intimidation and conspiracy. Other ex-girlfriends have come forward.

My mom finally admitted they created the monster by never holding Samuel accountable. She begged me to come back and support “family.” I told her exactly how I felt and blocked her.

Update 4 (6 months later)

Our daughter Emma was born healthy and beautiful. Holly visited to meet her.

Samuel took a plea deal: 8 years in prison. My dad’s case is ongoing, his business is collapsing. My mom moved out, filed for divorce, started therapy, and sent a long apology letter.

We’re discussing whether she’ll ever have supervised contact with Emma years from now. Victoria and I are focusing on our family and the healthy life we built far away.

Rachel is doing better, divorced, and cooperating with prosecutors. More victims have come forward. The extended family has split, but the younger generation is breaking the cycle.

Sometimes I think about responding to my mom’s letter, but then I look at Emma and remember: the cycle of abuse and enabling ends with me. She will grow up surrounded by love and respect, never knowing that kind of toxicity.

Cutting off toxic family was the best decision we ever made.

Thank you to everyone who supported us through this journey. If you’re in a similar situation, document everything, get professional help, and protect your peace — even if it means walking away.
